EASY — Talkler QuickConnect
With QuickConnect, just enter your email and password. Talkler will enter the rest for you most of the time.
Popular email services — @gmail.com, @icloud.com, @me.com, @yahoo.com, @aol.com, @hotmail.com, etc. — Talkler knows the best settings to use.
Custom domains — like example@mydomain.com — Talkler will try to look up your email provider’s settings.
Hosted Exchange with popular services — like Network Solutions or GoDaddy. Even works with your company’s domain — like example@xyzcompany.com. Talkler knows the settings for many of the popular Hosted Exchange services, and will enter them for you. Note: ActiveSync is not yet supported. But most popular Hosted Exchange services make IMAP and POP settings available. If your company has its own in-house Exchange server, ask your admin to open IMAP/POP, and SMTP.
ADVANCED — Less common email services
If Talkler doesn’t recognize your email service or can’t guess your settings, then Talkler will ask you to enter your settings. There are a few good ways to find your email account info (username, incoming/outgoing mail server, port, SSL).
NEW: We’ll look up your settings FOR YOU. Limited Time Only: Just get us the name of your email provider — we’ll look up your settings FOR YOU. Write to: help@talkler.com — be sure to include the email address and name of the email provider.
If you prefer to do it yourself, here are 4 methods for looking up your settings.
#1. Finding account info in the Settings app. Launch the Settings app on your iPhone…
Scroll down and tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars…
Tap the name of your email account in the Accounts list.
Find the info for Incoming and Outgoing Mail Servers…
Next, tap SMTP and then Primary Server, to find the info for the outgoing Port and SSL settings.
Go back to the screen shown above, tap Advanced, to find the info for the incoming Port and SSL settings.
Return to Talkler and enter your account info.
#2. Finding account info in your computer’s email program. On your laptop or desktop computer, launch your email program.
Some popular email programs are: Outlook, Outlook Express, Mac OS X Mail, Entourage, Opera, Thunderbird, Sparrow and Pegasus.
In your email program, go to Preferences or Account Settings. Look for the Username, Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server (sometimes called “Host”), Port, and SSL info.
Return to Talkler and enter your account info.
#3. Finding account info directly from your email service (search with Google). The easiest way to get your service’s specific setup details is to search using Google.
Examples of popular email and web hosting services are: GoDaddy, DreamHost, HostGator, 1&1, Blue Host, etc.
Launch the Safari app on your iPhone…
Tap the Search field, and search for the name of your service + either “IMAP” or “POP” (depending upon which kind of service you have) + “email setup port.” For example, if you have IMAP email service with GoDaddy…
Look through the search results for the one that shows the best details regarding your settings for port, host, server, etc.
After reading the settings info, return to Talkler and enter your account info, as instructed by your email service.
#4. Finding account info through your organization’s system administrator. If your email account was set up for you by a system administrator within your organization, then it may be necessary to ask this person to supply the following info…
For the Incoming Mail Server AND for the Outgoing Mail Server:
- Server Address
- Port
- Username (usually your email address, but not always)
- SSL / TLS — On or Off?
